Trafford Golf Centre to host inaugural #MNDriveathon5000 in support of MND awareness
Trafford Golf Centre will be the host venue for the inaugural #MNDriveathon5000 on MND Global Awareness Day, 21st June 2025. This event, organised in support of Anna and her family, is set to raise vital funds for the MND Association while also raising awareness locally about the impact of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
The mission of the day is a true test of golfing endurance, as family and friends come together to hit, shank, slice, or hook 5,000 golf balls from 7am until 10pm – that’s 333 balls per hour! Each of the 5,000 golf balls will represent the 5,000 individuals currently living with MND in the UK. The event is set to be a memorable day, with participants taking part in friendly competitions, enjoying golf, and raising awareness for a cause close to everyone’s heart.
In addition to the golfing challenge, Trafford Golf Centre PGA Professionals will be on hand to share tips throughout the day and running closest to the pin competitions. We will also be offering a chance to win exciting prizes, including:
- Callaway products
- 2 tickets for a night with Kevin Sinfield in Wigan on 16th September, including a photo with Kevin
- 2 x tickets to a Manchester City fixture in the 2025/26 season (Legends Lounge, 5-course carvery, wine & beer included – Cat C or D seats)
- 2 x corporate tickets to a Manchester United fixture in the 2025/26 season
- A signed Liverpool 2024/25 home shirt, signed by Arne Slot and comes with Certificate of Authenticity
- Vimto hamper
- More prizes will be announced as we approach the event date
Anna’s Story
Anna, who has just passed her two-year diagnosis anniversary, is a true inspiration to all who know her. Alongside her family, Anna continues to raise awareness of MND, helping other families recently diagnosed, and challenging the Government for better support for people living with MND. Despite the challenges she faces, Anna’s positivity shines through every day, and she has never asked for anything for herself, always thinking of others.
The financial impact of MND has taken its toll on Anna and her family. In the last two years, Anna and her husband Martyn have had to leave their jobs, adapt their home to make it accessible for Anna, and face the significant financial burdens of daily living. They have been immensely grateful for the support they’ve received from the MND Association, but as they face the next chapter of Anna’s diagnosis, they are in need of additional support to secure an accessible vehicle and cover the growing costs of personal care.
Anna is a devoted mum to her three children, Tilly, Eve and Fallon, and a loving wife to Martyn for 18 years. Despite everything, she remains strong, smiling, and continues to be an incredible advocate for MND awareness.
