Mental wellbeing in Golf – #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

Did you know that golf has been proven to reduce stress, improve confidence and self-esteem and anxiety levels?

As its #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we’ve taken some time out to share how golf can contribute and help gain better mental wellbeing.

Golf increases physical and mental capacity, creativity and the ability to solve problems, all of which are undoubted positives and bound to make you feel better. The physical side of golf is also known to be effective in treating mild to moderate depression.

Back in April, the first ever ‘Golf and Health Week’ took place to encourage golfers, non-golfers and lapsed golfers into taking part in the sport. The campaign was co-ordinated by The R&A with the support of the European Tour, the Ladies European Tour, The Professional Golfers’ Association and the Golf Foundation, as well as national associations including England Golf, Scottish Golf, Wales Golf, the Golfing Union of Ireland and the Irish Ladies Golf Union. Find out more about it here.

We all know that golf is sociable sport, you’re always meeting new people and naturally you’ll end up making connections with people whenever you play. The social elements of golf allow you to make friends easily which in turn enables you to feel included and releases positive endorphins. By joining us on our Dino Falls Adventure Golf course or playing a virtual course on one of our TopTracer bays at the range – you’ll be bound to bump into at least one friendly face.

With that in mind, if you’re new to the sport, pick up a golf club for the first time and learn a new skill? We offer introductory golf assessments, expertly guided by one of our PGA approved golf instructors to make you feel comfortable and settle any nerves.

At Trafford Golf Centre, we like to offer customers time to reflect, switch off and have a break in our Café & Bar, complete with Sky Sports to catch up on the latest tournaments.
